Filming Risk Assessment

Filming Risk Assessment

Below we assess the risks of filming all four of our advertisements.

  1. We plan on filming in The King's Church of England School, which holds over 1000 people so there are many risks involved, mainly with people causing hazards. The presence of the builders around the school creates a sense of unreliability as we have power and flooding issues occasionally.
  2. The first TV Advert will take place in a medium sized office within the school. This will have a number of risks as the scene will be in a confined area with a fair amount of people, which could pose a few threats to safety. There will a moderate amount of furniture in there so this can cause obstruction to people and cause them to trip/fall over. The office we are filming in does not have a fire escape, an is on the third storey of the building, which are also hazards. With builders working on the school, there is an ever-present risk that the electrical equipment can have a power-cut. In the scene we are creating a parody of, acclaimed actor Marlon Brando acting as “The Godfather” has a mouth brace to widen the appearance of his jaw. In our parody the actor will have marshmallows inserted into their mouth as we do not have access to specialist equipment. The actor has a slight risk of choking on them.
  3. The second TV advert will take place in a restaurant or the school canteen at Kings. This location as a large number of risks; the first being that the flooring is usually tiled in most restaurants and in the school canteen. This creates a risk of someone slipping on the floor especially if wet, which can lead to a severe injury. Also with a lot of cutlery and plates present, there's a chance some plates could fall and smash leaving small, sharp fragments. These would be difficult to see and may cause injury. A restaurant or the canteen will have many people around which makes the area crowded. This is a risk as many people will be carrying food and with the amount of furniture present it would be hard to get past; posing the risk of someone falling or taking a knock.
  4. The sponsorship sequence will be filmed in a small office, and the size coupled with the amount of furniture increases the likelihood of an accident. The small office has no windows, and one door in the corner of the room. A lack of oxygen becomes a risk factor here, as does the risk of fire.
